WORLD NATURAL HERITAGE WADDEN SEA

The national park Wadden Sea is UNESCO World Natural Heritage since 2009. It is situated along the North Sea coast with its enormous biodiversity. Up to 10.000 species of flora and fauna find a perfect habitat. Get an impression of what is going on in the mudlands while walking in the mud or enjoy a boat trip around the North Sea islands.

Husum

In the middle of Husum with its cultural facilities, we appear at our best. Go shopping in the charming old town or just enjoy one or the other excellent little restaurant or café. For those who are interested in the author Theodor Storm – you should visit the original Theodor-Storm-Haus. Perhaps you have heard of the famous novel “Der Schimmelreiter” – may be from a German lesson in school or by having seen one of the films. Besides the cultural life and Husum’s colourful centre our town stands out for its numerous exhibitions. Especially the big events around the new energies attract thousands of visitors each year to this harbour town directly at the North Sea.

Sylt

A 40 km sandy beach with firm breakwater and a fresh breeze in the west, or idyllic places on the calm wadden sea side in the east – the most northern island of Germany presents itself with its interesting variety to its guests. A fish roll at the traditional fish restaurant “Gosch” , to see and to be seen at the “Sansibar”, a boat trip to the island with one of the “Adler” boats, the Surf-Wold-Cup in Westerland or the “Naturgewalten-Zentrum” at the List harbour are only a few of the plenty reasons to visit this island.

Föhr

The „Frisian Caribbean“ -  a dream for all ambitious golfers or for those who want to become golfers. Walking on the beach, biking at the dikes in the north or gazing down to the island from the air – breath the sea air and enjoy Föhr in your own special way.

Amrum

Already from a far distance,  the Amrum lighttower greats the island’s guests. Visit the world of seafaring islanders in the “Öömrang Hüs” or go for a walk, accompanied by the sound of more than 10,000 breading sea birds, or along the longest swimming beach of Europe, the “Kniepsand”. Whatever you care for, Amrum will become your island of freedom with its stimulating climate.

Hallig Hooge

Peacefully enchanting this island appears to the quietness seeking guests, friends of nature and wallowers. If you look for steady relaxation and mental balance you will find it on this tiny island.

Langeneß

The largest of the North Frisian “Halligs”, each May, more than 30,000 brent geese visit this island on their route, fascinating people together with its unique landscape. Sheer happiness – that is what holiday makers experience when they sense the wind and the sun on their skin. Take a boat trip with the post boat “Störtebecker” and look for the “Gold of the North Sea” – amber.

Pellworm

Green dikes full of white woollen balls – it must be Pellworm with the sheep and lambs. Horseback riding, swimming, biking or wandering in one of the numerous art galleries – come by boat from Nordstrand to Pellworm and have a great time.

Friedrichsstadt

The „Dutch Town“ with the most art galleries in Schleswig-Holstein provides a lot of exciting events for people interested in culture, a variety of museums worthwhile looking at or the yearly highlight the “Rosenträume” where plant breeders from everywhere present their most beautiful roses. Rent a canoe, a rowing boat or a paddleboat and have an active look around, where the rivers Treene and Eider merge or enjoy nature by taking the town canal boats or by biking.

St. Peter-Ording

St. Peter-Ording on the North Sea coast – the place for every hip water sport. It is famous for the “Gegen den Wind” event where sportsmen from everywhere get together for a Triathlon or Marathon. There is no limit in terms of sports, sand sailing, horseback riding, beach polo, volleyball, the kite festival or, the highlight, the Kite-Surf-World-Cup.
